Browser data
Last updated: 10 October 2026
This page lists what the EcomBrowser desktop browser sends to our servers and when. It does not send your browsing history, the content of the pages you read, your passwords or the cookies of other websites. There is no crash reporter or analytics in the browser.
Always (to run the browser)
| What | When | Contains |
|---|---|---|
| Configuration | At start and every few minutes | Nothing about you: the browser downloads the list of supported websites, tools, the marketplace bar and shortcuts |
| Updates | At start and periodically | Your browser version and update channel |
| Tool modules | At start and when you sign in or out | Signed in: your account (to know which tools your plan includes). Signed out: nothing about you |
| Module error reports | When a tool module fails | Module name and version, browser version, error type and a cleaned-up error message without web addresses. Kept 90 days |
When you are signed in
| What | When | Contains |
|---|---|---|
| Account and credits | When the browser starts and when you open a tool | Your session; the answer is your name, plan, tool access and credit balance |
| Your browser preferences | When you change them | Settings such as favorites, recent tools, panels open or closed |
| Saved pages and products | Only when you click Save | The page address and title, a small preview image and the product details shown |
When you use a tool
| Tool | When | Contains |
|---|---|---|
| Product Bar | When the bar is on and you open an Amazon product page | The marketplace and product ID (ASIN), and values shown on the page (price, sales rank and category, “bought in past month” badge, brand, listing date, number of variations, Buy Box shown or not). For free tests, a one-way code made from a random ID of your browser installation, so a free test can’t be restarted |
| Product and seller analyzers | When you run an analysis | The product or seller ID and the page details the analysis needs |
| Keyword Explorer | When you search or open a keyword | The keywords you look up; lists you choose to save |
| Trend Lens | When you start a session | Only that a session started. No Pinterest data is ever sent to us |
| Requests for new websites | When you open a website we don’t support yet in a guest tab | The website’s domain name (for example example.com, never the full address) and a random installation ID, stored only as a daily one-way code |
Suggestion observations (off by default)
This collection is switched off on our side. It will only start after this policy announces it, and you can turn it off in the browser at any time.
- What: when “Help improve keyword estimates” is on (on by default; it can be turned off in Customize → Live Tools, and it is always off when “Show search volume in Amazon suggestions” is off), EcomBrowser sends us:
- the search suggestions Amazon showed for what you typed in Amazon’s search box (the typed text and the suggestion list in order);
- on Amazon search result pages, the search term, the results count Amazon shows, and how many products were marked Sponsored.
- What not: no page addresses, page content, cookies, account name, e-mail, IP address or device identifier are sent with these observations, and none are stored with them.
- How it is kept: observations are combined per keyword and week (counts, average position, results count) and are not kept per user. To drop duplicates we keep a one-way code that changes every day and cannot identify you. It is deleted after 7 days.
- Why: to improve the keyword volume estimates shown in Keyword Explorer.
- Control:
- collection only happens in EcomBrowser, while signed in, on approved marketplaces, and only while we have collection switched on;
- turning the setting off stops it, and observations collected but not yet sent are discarded.
Websites you visit
Pages you open load directly from those websites, as in any browser. Their own privacy policies and cookies apply. Signing in to a website inside EcomBrowser stays between you and that website; we don’t receive those passwords or cookies.
